Oh, Where to start? I'm still trying to fit your 2nd great grandmother Elizabeth
Patterson into the family. Wm. Pius' brother Martin's wife was Elizabeth Ash; in
1844 she died giving birth to a daughter named Elizabeth. Do you have dates or any other
info on your Elizabeth? Joseph Francis Patterson and Viva Elizabeth Conolty had
nine children. The first three are: Margaret A, b. 10 Oct 1881, married Maurice Healy; my
grandfather William Joseph, b. 1 Jan 1883, married Georgiana Dyal; and Ralph Aloysius, b.
31 Mar 1885, married Knittel. Uncle Ralph and family moved to Oklahoma. Wm. Jos. and
family moved to Indpls. Margaret stayed in Loogootee. The last missing sib is Emma
Catherine, b. 14 Sep 1886, d. 24 Mar 1888.
A newspaper clipping found in the bible of Viva Elizabeth Conolty Patterson:
July 31, 1907. Popular Young Folks Married. Wm. J. Patterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jos.
F. Patterson of this city, and Miss Georgiana Dyal, daughter of Art Dyal of near Bramble,
were married Wednesday evening by Rev. T. O'Donaghue at St. John's parsonage. A
number of friends of the young people were present. The attendants were Ottis J. Gootee of
this city and Miss Cora Bickerton of Wheatland. The contracting parties are among
Loogootee's nicest young people and have the best wishes of everyone for a happy
wedded life. They left yesterday morning on thrain No. 4 for Alexandria where they will
visit for a few days with Ralph and H. V. Patterson, brother and uncle of the groom and
from there they will go to Indiana Harbor for a future home where Will has a position as
clerk in the department store of his uncle.
