Surname: Bristol, Hedden
-------------------------
4-24-00
My ancestor, Andrew M. Bristol, from New York, brought his family down
river and up river to Washington, Daviess Co., IN in 1819.
He was a lumberman and a potash boiler.
He died in an epidemic, cholera?, and two small children, in 1820.
His widow Sarah (nee Hayward) md. Isaac Baldwin Hedden, Washington's first
shoemaker. They are buried at Cornettsville.
His son, Orla, my next ancestor, completed an apprenticeship in saddlery,
etc., in Washington and in 1832 moved to Palestine, Ill. His sister, Sarah,
md. James Buzan of Green Co. Their uncle, Hiram Hayward, also located in
Green Co.
Isaac and Sarah had a son, Americus, and a daughter.
From Andrew and Isaac, both lines of descendents have been traced.
What I am interested in knowing is the story of what caused this plague
that killed Andrew and the children. Also where might they have been buried?
Please answer by my eMail address, jebristol(a)aol.com.
Thanks
John Bristol
