"W. B. ALLEN RITES SUNDAY. REV. SEAT OF BAPTIST CHURCH PAID FINE TRIBUTE TO DECEASED
MAN.
Impressive funeral rites for Wm. Burton Allen, deceased business man, were held Sunday
afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist church in this city, the Rev. Wm. R. Seat
having charge. Interment was made in Oak Grove cemetery.
Rev. Seat paid fine tribute to Mr. Allen, a resident here nearly all his life and actively
identified with civic and church affairs at all times. He was a Sunday school teacher in
the Baptist church more than 25 years.
A quartet composed of John WALLER, Stanley DAYTON, Norwood PEEK, and Ralph SMEAD sang
"It is Well With My Soul," and Leonard BARTLETT sang a solo "In the Hour of
Trial."
The capacity of the church was taxed by mourning friends and relatives of Mr. Allen who
gathered for the final tribute being paid him on this earth."
