The Carnegie Library in Washington, Indiana has a couple of newspapers on
microfilm. They have the Odon Journal and the Washington paper (earlier
editions of this on film if I remember correctly). I was able to obtain
obits from the 1880's from the Journal. They also have an index to the
microfilm, which is just great. It is an alphabetical listing of sorts, not
in perfect alpha order. This library has a genealogy collection and
sometimes the librarians are available for research. I was lucky enough to
visit there from Texas and able to do my own research.
Good Luck!

Message Board Post:
Is anyone familiar with a source for old newspapers on microfilm for
Daviess County available either for interlibrary loan or purchase? I'm
particularly interested in the year 1851 and 1896-1900. Looking for obits
for a couple of relatives. Since I live in NC, it's a little difficult to
get to any of the local Daviess Co. libraries.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Bill
