ASH, John Vincent, 77, Loogootee Rte. 2, died at the Good Samaritan Hospital
in Vincennes at 12 AM today. He had been ill for three weeks and seriously
ill for only a few hours.
Mr.Ash was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barr Township and
the American Legion Post 120, Loogootee.
Born January 19, 1895, in Daviess County, he was the son of James R. and
Sarah (Spalding) Ash. His wife, Mary Theresa Gootee Ash, died in January
1971.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Francis (Ernestine) Hunter, Mrs. Joseph
(Marjorie) Arvin and Mrs. Frank (Alice) Matthews, all of Loogootee rural
route, and Mrs. Murel (Mary) Seal of Montgomery; four sons, James, John,
Joseph and Jerry all of Loogootee rural route; 37 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren; one brother, Chris of Loogootee Rte. 2.
Funeral rites will be held at 10:00 am Monday at St. Mary's Church with
burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Titzer Funeral Home
after noon Sunday. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Sunday.
NOTE: John Vincent Ash and Mary Teresa Gootee were married at St. Mary's
January 13, 1920.
