Mrs. Teresa Ash, 71 of Loogootee, Rte 2, died in the Daviess County Hospital
at 11:15 pm Wednsday, following a three months serious illness.
She was born in Daviess County, March 25, 1899, a daughter of Edward and
Alice Livers Gootee. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Barr Twp, the
Legion of Mary, and the Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband, Vincent Ash, whom she married January 13,
1920; four sons and four daughters, James, John, Joseph and Jerry Ash, all of
Loogootee, Rte. 2; Mrs. Francis (Ernestine) Hunter, Loogootee Rte. 2; Mrs.
Joseph (Marjorie) Arvin, Loogootee Rte4; Mrs. Murel (Mary) Seal, Montgomery
and Mrs. Frank (Alice) Matthews, Loogootee.
She also leaves one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Alice Kidwell, and Michael
Gootee, both of Indianapolis, and Flavian Gootee, Woodford, West Virginia; 37
grand children and 10 great grandchildren.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 am Saturday in St. Mary's Church, Barr
Township, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Calling hours at the
Miller Funeral Home will be after 12 noon on Friday and the Rosary will be
prayed at 7 pm Friday.
Note: John Vincent Ash, son of James R. Ash and Sarah A. Spalding, married
Mary Theresa Gootee daughter of Edward V. Gootee and Alice J. Livers 13
January 1920 at St. Mary's.
