I agree with Ruth. It is a matter of organizing our local relatives, too.
They would help if we ask them. Right now, they probably have no clue that this
stuff is so important to their ancestry!
I live in Utah but I get back to Loogootee from time to time. I know if I'm
in town and I can help--I will.
We can start by asking my uncle, Donald Bowling, the new mayor of Loogootee,
to help try and convince the county commissioners of their responsibility--but
he needs all of us to bombard the commissioners with email as well as open
letters to the Washington Times Herald and the Loogootee Tribune (many from
Martin Co originated from Daviess Co.
I subscribe to the Loogootee Tribune and I can see that the current mayor is
determined to spend every last dollar in the city treasury before he leaves
office next month--talk about sour grapes! I can't believe how some politicians
behave!
