Carnahan Rites Set for Thursday
Funeral services for Hilary S. (Butch) Carnahan, 89, Washington Rt. 4 who died at 8:45
a.m. Tuesday at the Daviess County Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the V.L.
Poindexter Funeral Home with Dr. William R. Seat officiating and burial in Aikman Creek
cemetery. Mr. Carnahan was seriously ill four days.
A retired farmer and merchant, Mr. Carnahan was born February 25, 1879, in Daviess
County, the son of Newton and Virginia (Robinson) Carnahan. On August 24, 1902, he
married Versie Jane Jones, who preceded him in death on September 8 of this year. He was
a member of Aikman Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Von Carnahan, Evansville and Byford Carnahan, Washington Rt. 4,
one daughter, Mrs. Cleon (Esther) Dedman, Winslow, Indiana; six grandchildren, five
greatgrandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Katie McCain and Mrs. Luna Gilley; both of
Washington Rt. 4. One son, Dewlyn Carnahan, died in 1947.
