Cordia Jones
Cordia Jones, 85, Rt. 4, died at 2 p.m. Friday at the Daviess County Hospital. Ms. Jones
had been in failing health for a few years.
Born March 10, 1889 in Daviess County to Martha Jane (White) and Nelson Fitzgerald, she
married Nolan E. Jones November 7, 1908. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Aikman Creek
Baptist Chursh, was woman’s leader of the Harrison Township Farm Bureau, was a former
County Woman’s Farm Bureau leader, a former member of the Betsy Ross Homemakers club and
member of the Daviess County Homemakers Choral Club.
Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Rosemary) Marshall, Peoria,
Ill.; Mrs. George (Martha) Feagans, Vincennes; two sons, John and Jack Jones, city; nine
grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Martha Ricks, Rt. 2; and one
brother Hugh Fitzgerald, Portland, Ore. Two sisters and four brothers have died.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Gill Chapel with the Rev. Jerry W.
Compton officiating. Burial will be in the Aikman Creek cemetery. Friends may call after
4 p.m. Saturday at the Gill Funeral Home.
