HARVEY H BOARDMAN
Harvey H Boardman died last Wednesday at his home on the Prairie west of Odon. He was
born in Nicholas Co KY Nov 27, 1821, age nearly 76 years. Mr. Boardman was one of the old
Pioneers of this county to which he moved in 1843. His marriage to Phoebe Kerns took
place in Lawrence Co in 1845. To them seven children have been born. Three boys and four
girls. Three have preceded their father to the mysterious beyond and four with the mother
and wife remain to mourn. The family moved to this township in 1853.
The place at that time contained only two buildings and was called Clarksburg.
The interment took place on Walnut Hill Cemetery Thursday.

PHOEBE J KERN BOARDMAN
Mr. Phoebe J. Boardman an esteemable woman of the Elmore township died Saturday evening at
7:00 o'clock at the home of her son, Dillard Boardman who lives 1 1/2 miles west of
Odon. Pneumonia fever was the cause of her death, from which disease she had suffered
only a few hours. Mrs. Boardman was born in Lawrence Co Sept 25, 1827 and was 83 years,
four months and 3 days of age. She was married to Harvey H Boardman, May 20, 1845 who
with one son and three daughters preceded her in death. When just a young girl she united
with the Church of Christ and lived a Christian life. Two sons Frank and Dillard who live
west of Odon, one daughter, Mrs Ida Fesler of Koleen and several grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held at the home Monday morning.
Rev. T.J. Alford of Elnora in charge. Burial was in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
