Mrs. Rutledge Died Yesterday In Rural Home
Aged Residentof Veale Township Was Well Known.
Mrs. Lillian H. Rutledge, 77, wife of George T. Rutledge of Veale township, Washington RFD
4, died about 10 :40 o'clock Monday morning at the family home about nine miles
southeast of Washington in the Cumback community. Death of Mrs. Rutledge was attributed to
complication of ailments and came after a lingering illness of one year. She had been in a
serious condition for the past month. Born in Leavenworth, Ind. on January 28, 1866, she
was a daughter of James F and Nancy Mason Parks, and came to Daviess County as a small
child. She was educated in Veale township schools and spent most of her life in that
community. She was a member of Aikman Creek Baptist church. On May 1, 1892 she was married
to Mr. Rutledge, who survives with four children as follows; Fred Rutledge of Washington
township, Mrs. Juanita Allison and Mrs Verna Hedrick of Wheatland, Mrs Sue M Buckley of
Dayton, Ohio. There also are seven granchildren and one great grandchild. A sister, Mrs.
Molly Hill, lives !
in Washington. Funeral services for Mrs. Rutledge will be held at 2:30 Wednesday at the
Aikman Creek church with burial in the ajoining cemetery. Rev. Wm. R. Seat will be in
charge. Friends may call at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Paul Hedrick in Wheatland to
pay respects. The Gill Funeral Home will be in charge of the funeral.
