Dies of Heart Attack
This community pays tribute to Homer T. Raney who died of a heart attack Thursday in front
of 3621 Independence Avenue. Mr. Raney formerly resided in this neighborhood for a number
of years. Mr. and Mrs. Raney recently purchased a home at 3430 Morrell Avenue. Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Mary [McCord] Raney, John Allen Raney, Francis Eugene Raney and [Paul]
Raymond Raney of the home and Tech. Sgt. Fabian Raney of the Marine Corps base at Parris
Island, South Carolina, PFC Dick Raney, Camp Shelby, Mississippi, Miss Dorothy Philomena
Raney of the home; Mrs. Lillian Marie Chiavola, 516 Norton avenue, Mrs. Martha Winona King
and Mrs. Henrietta Center of Houston, Texas.

Raney – Homer T. age 61 years, 3430 Morrell avenue died suddenly Thursday, December 28,
1944. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Dottie [McCord] Raney of the home, five sons, John
Allen, Frances Eugene, [Paul Raymon], T. Sergt. Fabian Frederick Raney, PFC Richard Raney,
four daughters, Miss Dorothy Philomena of the home. Mrs. Martha Winona King, Mrs. Mary
Henrietta Center, both of Houston, Tex.: Mrs. Lillian Marie Chiavola, 516 Norton: three
granddaughters and one great-grandson. Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home,
Broadway-Linwood boulevard Tuesday morning at 8:15. Services at Assumption Church,
Lexington-Benton blvd., 9 o’clock. Interment Mt. St. Mary’s cemetery. The rosary will be
