Message Board Post:
Hello listers. It has been awhile sine I sent in a query, so with all the
new computers out there, I thought it was time to send again. My German
HARRIS family's 1st proveable ancestor was John Henry HARRIS, DOB 2.1804
Mifflin Co., PA, and DOD Tuss. County, OH. My GGGradfather George H HARRIS
was born there on 1/1830 and after serving in the Civil War died in
Daviess Co on 2/18/1869. And is buried in Raglesville Cem. My GGrandfather
David H. HARRIS was born in TUSC. County, OHIO on 3/1851 and after
spending most of his life in Odon in Daviess, moved to Indianapolis where
he died 7/1946. While in Odon, David HARRIS owned the Harris House Hotel
and several blocks of the city. His brother, Samuel Frederic HARRIS was a
physcian ther until he passed during the TB epidemic. All the brothers and
sisters continued to marry German/Swiss people including family members of
the MAY(BACH), CORRELL, SOMMERS, RUFENACHT, and WINKLEPLECK. I'm sure I
have many cousins in the area of GREENE, M!
ARTIN, OWEN, VIGO and Morgan county as my family spread all over "German
Corner" of SW Indiana during the late 1800s and early 1900s. I have many
old German documents and would be happy to share as applicable while i
continue to look for my "cousins". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Fred Harris
