"DEATH CLAIMS ELNORA RESIDENTS. NEWTON SHAKE PASSES ON SUNDAY MORNING.
Newton SHAKE, a prominent Elnora citizen, died Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at his
home there, following a lingering illness of a complication of diseases. He had been
bedfast for several months.
Born near Brazil in 1856, the deceased man had been a resident of Elnora for the last
forty years. His wife and three children preceeded him in death several years ago and
since that time he had lived alone. He was past seventy-three years of age at the time of
his death.
Surviving relatives include the following brothers and sisters, James SHAKE of Franklin;
Thomas SHAKE of Bloomfield; Charles SHAKE of Washington; John SHAKE of Elnora; Mrs. Belle
TARR of Bloomfield and Mrs. John CROSBY of Elnora.
Funeral services were held at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the residence with
Rev. T. J. Alford in charge. Burial was made at the Fairview cemetery in Elnora."
