"DEATH CLAIMS ELNORA RESIDENTS. THOMAS TAYLOR CALLED SUNDAY.
Thomas TAYLOR, widely known citizen and resident of Elnora, died at the Christian hospital
last Sunday after a brief illness.
Mr. TAYLOR was born in Owen county, March 5th 1857. He came to this county when but nine
years of age and practically all his remaining life was lived in this county. In 1880 he
was united in marriage to Martha YOUNG. Three children were born to this union, all of
whom died in infancy, and were soon followed by the mother. In 1886 Mr. TAYLOR was again
married to Missouri A. MYERS. To this union eight children were born of whom six survive.
These are Mrs. C. L. COURTNEY, Willis and Porter of Elnora, Odus and Mrs. Ralph BURKHART
of Cincinnati and LaVerne of Wapokaneta, Ohio. He also leaves one brother Samuel and one
sister Mrs. Jane BROWN, both of Vincennes.
Mr. TAYLOR was a faithful member of the Christian church and took an active part in all
church work. In fifteen years Sunday School attendance he had missed but four Sundays.
Funeral services were held at the Elnora Christian church Tuesday afternoon at two
o'clock with Rev. C. H. Buchanan of this city in charge assisted by Rev. A. C.
Spellman and Rev. W. M. Clark. Burial was made at the Fairview cemetery."
