Lafayette Ketchem Dead.
Lafayette Ketchem died at his home in the north part of Elnora Wednesday evening at 9
oclock of pneumonia fever. He was born January 26 1871 on a farm east of Elnora. He was a
son Jacob and Sarah Ketchem. He was married to Bertha Bowers in January 1901. Mr. Ketchem
was a quiet, industrious and loving husband. His friends were numbered by his
acquaintances. At the time of his death he was employed by the E & I railroad as a
bridgecarpenter. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Elnora and he had made
application to become a member of the modern Woodman camp of Elnora. His policy arrived
four days after he became sick. He affiliated with the Church of Christ.
He leaves a wife, 3 children, the youngest being but 4 days old, a mother, 3 brothers,
Carine of Arkansas, Willard and James, 2 sisters Mrs. Mollie Miller and Mrs. Stella Milton
of Elnora besides a host of friends to mourn his death. Funeral services were conducted
Friday evening at 2 oclock at the chapel above town. the Odd Fellows had charge. Burial at
the new cemetery(Fairview).
