Thanks so much for responding, Mary. Actually, I'm pursuing the
Bennett Thomas line and the John Hawkins line from Daviess Co.
James C. Right's wife Sarah [Sally] was one of John's daughters, and another of
his daughters, Eliza Ann, married Bennett's son Solomon.]
I have assumed that Lavina and Katherine Right Thomas were
Catherine Right's daughters and sisters of James C. and Wiley,
but I've only been assuming. I've also been assuming that
Catherine was Roderick Right's widow [from the Union Co. SC
will you've found] because she, James Carr Veale, and William Hawkins all ended up in
Daviess County fairly early.
John Hawkins [above] named one of his sons "Isaac Right Hawkins," and I've
wondered if there were a family connection of any sort between Roderick and John's
mother Margaret Hawkins, wife of Isaac. Margaret was not a Quaker when Isaac
married her in Virginia [scandal!], and I've wondered where
Roderick, who apparently also was not a Quaker, came from.
[The Wrights in Union County do seem to have been Quakers,
but not the Rights.]
I hadn't noticed the William and other James Right you found in
Daviess Co. census records, but James C. Right is mentioned in John Hawkins' probate
record as married to Sally.
Let do keep in touch if we find anything useful to one another!
