I can not help with your Arkansas query, but I have this Mary BARBER in my data.
Here is a link to her:

Click on "pedigree" for her ancestry as I have it.

My Mary Barber born 1797 New York married Alex Stephenson 1825 in Daviess County, Indiana. They had a daughter Malinda who was born 1832 Indiana. The youngest was Adin B. Stephenson died in Civil War. I can find Mary Stephenson with daughter Malinda and son Adin in Fulton County, Arkansas 1850. Malinda married about 1853 to Joseph Dillard. I am trying to find their marriage. They are in Pope County Arkansas in 1860. Adin is living with them. He later died in Civil War.

It seems people are missed at times, as well as incorrect spelling of names can make it difficult to locate them.
One hint: if they appear stable in location, you can identify neighbors in a different census year and try to find them by finding the neighor and then searching the "neighborhood" data.

I simply cannot find the family of James P. and Evalina (Burris) Stewart in the 1870 census for Daviess Cty. The family appears in the 1860 and the 1880 census, in Daviess.
I've tried any possible spelling I can thin k of, with no luck.
Is it possible that the census taker "missed" an entire family. It's very unlikely that they were living anywhere but Daviess Cty.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
