Message Board Post:
>From the Washington Gazette printed Friday, May 28, 1920, Washington, Indiana
"William G. Graham
One of Daviess county's most picturesque personages was removed by death at 3:30 a.m., May 22, when William C. Graham died at the home of his nephew, John G. Shanks, former county commissioner, on the Thomas Bluff road. Ailments of age were the primary cause of his death but the end was hastened by an attack of gangrene of the foot.
Mr. Graham had been making his home in the Shanks household since January 2, 1902. He was born in Washington township, this county May 19, 1835, and had always lived in this immediate community. He was a cooper by trace, but was engaged in farming when he retired. John Graham, his father, was a native of Scotland. His mother, whose maiden name was Coppage, was born in Maryland. In the death of William C. Graham, the last male descendent of this particular branch of the Graham family in the United States has expired.
While he was a consistent reader of the Bible, Mr. Graham never identified himself with any certain denomination. He leaves as his only close survivor one sister, Mrs. Ann Allen, mother of J.G. Allen."
Not related, but came across this obit searching for my family.

I am interested in finding more information on Elizabeth Ash. That you mentioned was married to Martin Patterson. I am a descendant of Ash and Riney.
My grandmother was Margaret Ann Ash born 09 Jan 1855. Her Parents were Richard Henry Ash born Oct 1828 and Ellen Miles born 1828. His parents were Edward Ash and
Deborah Lawallin.
My grandfather was John Leo Williams born 07 Apr 1851 his parents were Edward Williams born 1817 and Matilda Riney born 08 Jan 1820.
Matilda Riney was the daughter of Robert Riney and Ally Blandford or spelt Blanford.
Edward Williams was the son of Thomas Clark Williams and Sarah Brown born 13 Oct 1788. They were married 26 Jul 1814 in Washington county Kentucky. Her father was Andrew or Anthony Brown. I would be happy to exchange information on any of these families
Thanks Dan

Marilyn - I didn't have any info on Clarence Brown, either, so I did some poking around and found a draft registration record for him as Clarence Altland Brown, born 10 May 1890 in Rush County, Indiana, working as a production engineer for Diamond Chain & Mfg, in Indianapolis.
Census records show his parents as Samuel T. and Henrietta Brown and brother Seth in Indianapolis in 1900 and 1910. After that he is married to Jane Egan. He doesn't seem to be closely connected to Daviess County. At least he didn't reside there.
