Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Rootsweb has changed the indavies list to new servers beginning today.
The new list names will be the same indavies(a)rootsweb.com Note the L has been removed.
Old address indavies-L(a)rootsweb.com
New address: indavies(a)rootsweb.com
If you have filters, you should set them to allow mail from the
list as: indavies(a)rootsweb.com
Both email addresses will still work for a while for sending e-mail but you may not receive it if you don't change it in your address book
Remember those on the digest mode send their email to the new address of indavies(a)rootsweb.com Digest numbers will be out of sequence during the change over.
A note for those members using AOL - there might a temporary delay in
receiving list mail (on AOL's end). Make sure you check your spam folders, if you find any list mail there, click the THIS IS NOT SPAM button and read your mail in your inbox so the filters will be trained in regard to the new server.
The main changes will be on my side in the Utility pages.
Let me know if you have any concerns or questions. If I can't answer them, will find out the answer for us.
I appreciate each of you and your understanding as we go through this change over.

Something about filters? I want to stay on the list. All I did before was sign on. If I don't do anything special, will I still be on the list? If not, could somebody help me out here and slap me on the list so I stay?
Thanks.

Wow you have really been working! I don't know where I got the date that Emeline died but I have 12 Sept 1894. you are probably correct in thinking itis between 1880 and 1884 unless he divorced her before she died and the 3 listed with him andhis 2ndwife are Emelines?? I saw that there are 2 emmaline shaners onei Mary Emmaline and other is Minnie Emeline!!My grandma Jones -Reneer s" name is Minnie and she would be the neice of Minnie Emeline. We have been to the OLD REELS CHapel church cemetery in Knox co. and there are several Shaners buried there. Thanks

I know the print on the early papers is really hard to read and you have to read all the pages as obits are scattered everywhere and some times deaths aren't posted till weeks afterwards..and sometimes they are in the gossip part of the paper not in the mortuary part... I'm going to check some Knox Co records out..on the Shaner family..I found two marriage records for Abraham Shaner..the last one is for 1885 Jan 3 to Eliza White but the middle initial is different which could be a typo or misread of the records I did find Abraham in 1900 Harrison Twp with wife Eliza and 3 dau.lists him married 15 yrs..that would mean that Emeline Jones Shaner died between 1880 and the end of 1884.also in the death records is listed a Mary Schaner d July 5 1909 Harrison Twp Daviess Co Ind. age 14..this is one of the children listed with him and Eliza I think...Louis is living with the Gregory family as farm hand farther down the page. Seymour Abraham Shaner is from Knox Co..his father is list!
ed as Adam Shaner mother as Mary (she might be a Jones also..I need to check out some records to know for sure) they had a son also named Adam L b 1859..and son Perry D b est 1858 and son Albert b 1853 all in Knox Co Harrison Twp 1880 census.there are probably other children as well...I think Adam went by the name Lane..there is a marriage cert listed for Lane Shaner to a J Reel 7 Aug 1903 has his mothers last name listed as Jones. Seymour Abraham also had son named Adam P but he was b 1869..and I think he married Mary Cannon 28 Jan 1900 Knox Co..there is a death cert listed in Daviess Co for a Mary Bell Shaner d April 12, 1901 Harrison Twp Daviess Co In 40 yrs of age. I wonder if this is Adams wife? I know later he has listed Divorce and Widowed on some of the later census records..found him in 1910 with his father in Harrison Twp...and in 1920 by himself in Harrison Twp and with his brother also in 1920 in Washington..As for Harriet Baldwin Jones I will keep looking for i!
nformation on her..I have some obits I need to search for in that time
period..I'm looking for Caroline Prewitt or Pruit obit she died in 1894..I haven't found hers either..and I've been searching for it also for a long time..she was Rosa Pruitt Shaner's ..(dau of Thomas Pruitt)grandmother..he was a 1/2 sibling to Magenta Parks Jones Davis..the Pruitts and Shaners are all buried between the Parks monuments and right around Wm H Horralls monument..

Mary? Cynthia: I know it seems too young for harriet to be married but I saw one place where she was born in 1815 --still young but not impossible??? Do you think she could be in the family of William Baldwin? or perhaps William Stone--- both came with the early pioneers. I did a lot of reseaarch on estATES OF THE bALDWIN FAMILIES AND COULD NOT FIND A hARRIET --PERHAPS SHE MARRIED AND TOOK HER PART OF THE INHERITANCE SO WHEN HER PARENTS SHE DIDNOT HAVE ANY THING COMING????? JUST A GUESS. Wanda Cole has done a lot of research (lives in Washhington) and she says she heard that Harriet was a Stone but so many death cert. say Baldwin ?????????

Cynthia/Mary: I probably have the same stuff that Peachee has about division of land etc. I have a date of May 5th 1839 for Permenius and Harriet marriage?? and I think somewhere I read a date of1893 for her death but can/t remember where. I have tried 2 different times to look at the newspaper films at Davies co libraary but so hard to read and so much to cover--not knowing the date andI have written and sent $5 - 2 or 3 times to Indy and nothing! Some have said they think she was a Stone?but on her daughters death certificate---Mary polly Gregory it says Harriet Baldwin born in tennessee---on Louisa Capehearts death cert. it says mother was Baldwin,,
on Elizabeth Mccaffertys' death cert. it says Harriet Baldwin --mother was born in South Carolina and I tend to feel that is where she came from., on William Jones death cert. it says she was Harriet M Baldwin and born in Indiana!!!!!!
I have some of the kids obits and on Louisa Capehearts' obit in 1902 it does not mention her mother---which could be an error. I don't know what to think about Jane Jones---probably died young or was married???????????????

I agree. . . Harriet Jones was 44 in the 1860 census in the houshold of Parmenus Jones and 63 in 1880 in the household of Hamilton Jones which put her birthdate between 1816 and 1817 and so would have been too young to marry Moses Baldwin in 1828.
. and the marriage of Harriet Baldwin (who may have been Harriet Heplestine, and may have been the widow of Moses Baldwin) to James Barr was in 1838 which was probably about the time that our Harriet Baldwin married Parmenus Jones. . . the oldest child that I have was born about 1837.
Parmenus Jones died in 1870 so James Barr who married Harriet Baldwin in 1838 could not have been the husband of our Harriet in 1880? Anyway.

Hi Mary..This is the reason I don't think that the Harriet Helpenstine who married Moses Baldwin 10 March 1828 Daviess Co..and the Harriet Baldwin who married James Barr 22 Feb 1837 Daviess Co is the one who married Parmenius Jones..In 1880 Harrison Twp Daviess Co Ind..Census..has
Hamelton (Hamilton) Jones 26 farmer b Ind, wife Sarah 21, dau Laurah age 4, son Howard 1 and Hariot (Harriet) Jones 63 mother at home b Ind both parents S.C...so that would make her born 1817 give or take a year..and that would have made her 11 yrs of age if she married Moses Baldwin..wouldn't it??..So I think these are two different Harriets..

This doesn't help a lot with Harriet--either where she came from or where she went--but I think that it is a valuable piece of documentation as to the heirs of Parmenus Jones?
