"A SAD DEATH.
WILLIAM FREED DIED SATURDAY MORNING OF CONSUMPTION.
William FREED, who lived five miles north of here, and who would have been one of the graduates this year of the Odon High School, died last Saturday morning. Mr. FREED was born July 13, 1880, aged at death, 19 years 7 months and 27 days. Will, as he was known by all, was a son of Fredrick and Amanda FREED. His father has been dead about fourteen years. He lived with his mother, and for the last few years has attended the Odon school.
He was never a robust young man, but he attended to his studies and did not miss school until March 1. He went home never to enter the school again. Early Saturday morning, while sitting in a chair, he died suddenly, the spirit of the good, studious boy, taking its flight to the great beyond.
Will was an exceptionally good boy. He joined the M. E. church some years ago, and always tried to live the life of a Christian. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. B. Johnson Sunday morning at Good Hope, and the remains were buried in the Walnut Hill cemetery. He will be greatly missed in the school room, as well as at home.
The funeral was largely attended. The teachers, his graduating class, and other classes of the schools here, paid the last respects to the mortal remains of their classmate and pupil, by attending the funeral services together."
