Bicknell, Ind.- Elizabeth Wininger, 73 408 W. Fith St died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. Wininger was a member of Bicknell First Baptist Church. Born on June 12, 1920, in Indiana, she was the daughter of Charles and Stella (Freed) Boyd. Surviving are her husband John "Bill" Wininger, whom she married Feb 5, 1938, a daughter, Sue Sager of Crete, Ill. and a brother, Freed Boyd of Vincennes. Two sisters are deceased. The funeral will be at 11a.m. Tuesday at the McClure Funeral Home, the Rev. Warren Stewart officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial at the Bicknell I.O.O.F. Cemetery

Death Takes Mrs. Stringer
Mrs Bertha Mae Stringer, Elnora died at the Daviess County Hospital, at 10:45 Thursday morning after a serious illness of five days. Deceased was born in Pulaski County, Ky the daughter of John and Mary (Davis) Taylor. she was married in November, 1901 to Bert Stringer who survives with the following children; Bess Corbin, Odon; Mildred Myers, Elnora, Dickie Wildridge, Elnora, Bertie Brock, Odon; and foster son Harry F. Potter of Muncie. She is also survived by two sisters Sara C and Florence Chestnut of Montgomery Rural Route. There are 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mrs Stringer was a highly respected citizen of the Elnora community and a member of the Elnora Methodist church. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. John Bolin in charge. Burial will be made in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon. Friends may call at the Poindexter Funeral Home in Odon until 9:30 saturday morning when the body will be taken to the Elnora Methodist chur!

Mrs. Chestnut Passes Away
Florence J Chestnut, 76, passed away at 7 a.m. today at the home of her daughter, Mrs Dale Ducharme, of Elnora. Mrs. Chestnut was born April 26, 1882, in Eubanks, Ky the daughter of William and Mary Taylor. She married Ben Chestnut and he preceded her in death in January of 1947. Mrs. Chestnut was a member of the E.U.B. Church. Surviving are six children; Dewey and William Chestnut, both of Odon; Vernon, Grace and Firman, of Elnora, and Mrs Ernest Petty, of Montgomery. There are 26 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Nazarene Church at Odon, with Rev. S. A. Ferguson and Rev. G. Mahan officiating. Burial will be in Walnut HIll Cemetery. Friends may call at the Poindexter Funeral Home at Odon after 2 p.m. Sunday. The casket will be taken to the church at noon Monday where friends may pay their last respects.

Sarah C. Chestnut
Mrs. Sarah C. Chestnut, 70, Barr Township resident, died at 4 a.m. today at the Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks, seriously ill. Born June 9, 1884, in Kentucky, deceased was the daughter of John and Mary (Davis) Taylor. She was first married to Val Cole, who died in 1915. Her second husband, James Chestnut, also preceded her in death in 1942. Mrs Chestnut was a member of the Spring Valley Nazarene Church, of West Baden. Survivors are three daughters; Mrs Dorothy Stuffle, with whom she lived, Route one, Montgomery; Mary Leona Cokins, of Galveston, Texas, and Mollie Ione Johnson of De Ridder, La; a grandson, Bob Veller of Indianapolis; a sister Florence Chestnut, of Odon, and a half-sister, Mamie DeMent, of Bell, Calif. Friends may call at the Poindexter Funeral Home, in Odon, Saturday morning. Funeral services will be held at the Nazarene Church, in Odon, at 2 p.m. (CST) Sunday. The Rev. William E Taylor Funeral Thursday
Funeral services for William E. Taylor, were held Thursday afternoon at the residence on North Street with Rev. Burcham and Rev Ragsdale officiating, burial following in Walnut Hill cemetery at Odon. Pallbearers were Paul Hawk, John Smith, Hubert Watkins, Ed Carnahan, Charles Copeland and Russell Callahan. Flower-bearers were Maxine Davisson, Velma Harner, Catherine Fielder, Betty Lou Bogard and Janet Byrer.

Miss Pearl Boyd Died in Hospital
Miss Pearl Boyd, age 78, of 322 W 7th St, Bicknell, died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday in Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes. Miss Boyd was born on November 17, 1898 in Odon, the daughter of Charles and Estella Freed Boyd. She retired in 1958 from Public Service Indiana where she had been employed for 40 years. Her last postiion was with the Public Service Employees Credit Union until 1976. Surviving are a sister, Mrs Betty Wininger of Newman, Illinois and one brother, Freed Boyd of Vincennes. A sister, Evelyn Howard preceded her in death on July 18, 1977. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 21 from the McClure Chapel, Bicknell, with the Reverend Donald Smith officiating Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Bicknell, Ind.

Mrs. Evelyn (Bill) Howard, age 73, of 322 West Seventh Street, Bicknell died Monday at 8:55 a.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes. The former Odon resident was born June 24, 1904, to Charles and Estella Freed Boyd. She has been a resident of Bicknell since 1921. Mrs. Howard had been employed with Public Service Indiana at Odon and also in Bicknell. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs June Day of Indianapolis, two grandchildren, Tim Day of Indianapolis; and Mrs Brent (Cindy) Kerns of Danville, Indiana. Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Pearl Boyd of Bicknell and Mrs. Betty Wininger, of Newman, Illinois; one brother, Freed Boyd of Vincennes, and two great grandchildren. Mrs Boyd of Bicknell Dies
Bicknell, Ind-Mrs. Estella Boyd, 74, of 114 East Ninth St. died Wednesday morning at the Good Samaritan hospital in Vincennes after an illness of seven years. She was the daughter of Richard and Jane Herrin Freed. Her husband, Charles S. Boyd died in 1947. Formerly residing at Odon, she moved to Bicknell 34 years ago. Mrs. Boyd was a member of the Bicknell Methodist Church. Survivors include: a son, Freed Boyd of Bicknell; three daughters, Pearl Boyd, Evelyn Howard and Mrs. William Wininger, all of Bicknell; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Day Freed, Elnora; Roy Freed, state of Iowa; and William Freed, Detroit, Mich. The body was taken to the Wampler funeral home where friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

David Lewis b 1849 Jackson Co to James Lewis 1825-1848 and Phoebe Wheeler Harvey Lewis Carr 1825 IN.
David and wife Clestus Lewis (she was previously married to a Lewis) lived in Madison Twp Daviess 1880 near his half brother William Carr 1855-1938.
David's children are: James Robert 1875-1950; Alvin A. "Bert" b 1878; Eliza E. b 1880 and Ida b 1899.
A step daughter Margret A. Lewis b 1871 was d/o Clestus and her first husband ? Lewis b SC.

Looking for info. on Evan D Davies. Came to U.S.A. in 1860 from Wales. He was abt.24. His wife Anna come in 1861.She was abt. 25. She would have had there 2 small girls with her. May June was abt.2 while her sister Hester was abt. 1 Once here, they settled in Zanesville Ohio and lived there for many years.Can any one tell me where they lived in Wales or when they where married or how they got here or any other info.
