"ANOTHER OLD CITIZEN GONE.
David HOGSHEAD, one of the oldest citizens of Daviess county, died yesterday morning at ten minutes after two o'clock, and will be buried this afternoon in the old Presbyterian cemetery, the funeral services at the house commencing at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. GERISH.
Mr. HOGSHEAD was born in the year 1800, and consequently was seventy-nine years old at the time of his death. He was born in North Carolina and came to Martin county over sixty years ago. After living in Martin county for a year or so he moved to Daviess, where he has since resided. While in Martin county he was married to Miss Mary LOGAN, with whom he has lived a happy life, and who survives him. A number of children have been born to the couple, but all have gone before them except three, Mr. Hiram HOGSHEAD, Miss Lizzie HOGSHEAD, and Mrs. Jane STAFFORD.
Mr. HOGSHEAD has filled some local offices, always with honor to himself and honesty to the public. He has been a member of the Presbyterian church of this city for fifty years or more, and has always possessed the respect and esteem of his fellow church members, of his neighbors, and of the public generally.
He has been feeble for two years and quite ill for nine months, and his death had been expected for some time on account of old age and general debility. He has resided in the city for about seven years, his farm being two miles south on the Troy road."

Mrs. Mary Ann GALLAGHER, wife of James GALLAGHER, an old and prominent citizen of this city died yesterday after a short illness. Aged 59. The deceased was born March 13, 1820, at Lebanon, Pa., and came to Washington in 1838. She was married in December 1840. She is a sister of Capt. G. S. WALTERS, Clerk of the Daviess Circuit Court. She leaves a husband and two children, and many relatives and friends to mourn her loss. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church and was highly esteemed for her many Christian virtues. Endowed by her Creator with generous and kindly impulses, she not only pitied the poor about her but dispensed substantial charity with a bountiful hand. The community in which she lived will miss her but the poor and suffering will miss her worst of all.
The painful affliction which caused her death, and from which she had been suffering more or less for years, was uterine tumor.
She was loved by all who knew her and who were honored by her friendship. She charmed all hearts by the lovely sanctimonies of her conjugal and maternal endearments, and it seemed to be the sum of her well spent life to make those around her happier and better.
The funeral will take place this morning at ? o'clock. Requiem mass at St. Simon's Church."

"TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. CRUSHED TO DEATH BY A FALLING TREE.
Mr. Patrick WEEKS, of this city, met with an accident last Monday afternoon that resulted fatally in a few hours afterward. He was at his farm in the forks of Prairie Creek, about eight miles from the city, and was doing some work on the fences. At four o'clock he was near a burning tree, his team being close. The tree began to crack and Mr. WEEKS ran to his team to get it out of all danger. Before he was able to do so the tree fell, smashing the wagon, killing a horse, and crushing Mr. WEEKS to the earth. Friends soon were on the gound and took him from under the timber, when it was found that he had received serious injuries across the spine. He was conveyed to a house, where he lay in great suffering until about three o'clock Tuesday morning when he died. Tuesday morning the body of Mr. WEEKS was brought to his residence in Turner's Addition, and on Wednesday morning was buried in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. WEEKS was about sixty-two years of age at the time of his!
death and leaves a wife and four children, the children all being grown."
