If there is anyone on this list that has any data re: the various Ritter
families, please let me know.
I have data to share. James Aaron Ritter, died in Surry County, NC,
however, several of his
children immigrated to Indiana and some were in Daviess County before 1850.

I have these individuals in my information, but not much else:
Elizabeth Ruminer born 1832, m. George Washington Melton on 24 Aug 1850 at
St. Mary's, Barr Twp, Daviess Co, IN. They had a daughter, Mary Jane b. 23
Jan 1853 in Barr Twp.
Notes:
Daviess Co, IN Land Deeds
Township 4 North; Range 6 West
Daniel Rumner NW-S31 24 Aug 1818
John Rumner E-NW-S15 12 Apr 1832
Frederick Ruminer E-SE-S21 5 Sept 1831
Frederick Ruminer SE-NE-S21 5 Nov 1836
Frederick Ruminer NW-SE--S21 21 Aug 1839
(Indiana Land Entries 1807-1877-Vincennes District; by Waters, Margaret R.)
Father from Bavaria, mother from PA...(where did this come from?)
Another note:
Hello, My Melton's came originally from VA then to KY. My 2nd
great-grandfather, Henry Harrison Melton was born in Pulaski Co., KY in 1818.
That same year these Melton's moved to Lawrence Co., IN. I have found them in
Martin, Greene and other surrounding counties in Indiana. Henry Harrison's
parents were Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Hanson) Melton. In the 1870 Lawrence
Co., IN census my Elizabeth Melton is living with a Ruminer family.(The
original census looks like it says "Huminer" but, I am sure there is a
mistake and the name is Ruminer. I haven't been able to find the name Huminer
anywhere let alone Lawrence County). The census states: Household 1213
Ruminer L.E. 44 F IN " Lucinda 15 F IN " Patty 11 F IN " Catherine 9 F IN
" Minerva 6 F IN Melton Elizabeth 71 F N.C. I know this is probably
reaching, but I am unable to find anything about my Melton's and am trying to
find out who Nathaniel's father was. I suspect there is probably a connection
to the Harrison County, IN Melton's, but as of yet haven't been able to link
them. Thanks, Carla Harris <charris(a)texas.net>

-------My Response-------
First, apologies to the list for addressing this to the list and not to the
originators; their email addresses are not known to me, a persistent
disadvantage when one uses this kind of generalized posting. My email
address is jlr(a)crocker.com
Mary Polly Woodruff was born May 4, 1832 and married (1) James Watt Ragle, b
24 April 1837, 2 sons Amos and John Ragle. Married (2) Dr. William J.
Thomas, b. ca. 1843 on June 13, 1867, 4 children: Atta Ellen m. EATON, Anna
Jane m. WINKLEPLECK, Willard Moses, William Jefferson (twins). William J. m.
Rhoda Edmondson.
James Watt Ragle was apprenticed to Dr. Thomas, a veternarian. James died at
age 24. The Winkleplecks were important in Odon history. Amos Ragle m.
Florence Roslyn Binger Davis, ran a plant nursery in Odon. John Ragle (Rev.)
m. Rebecca Jane Bramble. I have several pictures of the Thomas twins and
many others in this extended family.
My question: how was Rhoda Edmondson related to Mary C. Edmondson who
married William Toon, the father of my greatgrandmother Susan Ellen Toon
(1)?
