My grandfather name was Judge Sonia Stokes born from a father from Indiana who married a lady from Arkansas. My grandfather was born around 1884 by 1930 cencus and the bible say 1880 but is probaly wrong. We do not know who his parents were as they were kill when he was a small boy. He has one sister. His uncle was said to have taken the children but not for sure just alot of tales. He said his people were from Ireland. His father married a lady from Arkansas and he was suppose to be born in Arkansas around or in Judsonia, arkansas. A tornado was to have kill them there and they own a farm and the uncle took over the farm. We have a lovely picture of him in a Christianing dress and a piece of his blonde hair in a large bubble glass frame in color. He as a white hair man and about 5'6" or so. His eyes were a light blue and everyone says you can tell Jud family by there blue eyes and blonde hair but got white as they got older. Thank you for any imformation. Pat Stokes!

Barb -
There should be an application for this marriage. You would need to send $1 and a SASE to the Daviess County Clerk,
Daviess County Court House, Washington, IN 47501.
In 1900, Daviess County, IN census there is a Bell Millholland with two sons, one age 11, Charles. From the marriage index and 1910 census this appears to be the correct age for your Charles.
Charles R. Millholland married Isabell(a) Taylor 25 March 1866 Daviess County, IN.
1860 Daviess County, In census John Millholland and Mary with a Charles Millholland age 16.
John Millholland married Mary Gibson 2 November 1837 Daviess County, IN.
Can not find a Rose Auberry in 1900 census.
A possibility is Charles Auberry married Rose A. Smith 17 April 1877 Daviess County, In.
I do find this family in 1880 with a four month old daughter named Rose. Seems a little old for your Rose. I do not find this family in 1900, but they are there in 1910. I tried various spellings, but apparently not the correct one.
I am not related to this family.
Good luck.

My question pertains to Julia Ann Holland, daughter of William Holland and
Mary Sharum . . . according to the "History of Martin County, Indian," Julia
Ann Holland was married to Levin M. Bramble. son of Levin Bramble and Mary
Harriet Avery. Another source indicates that Julia Ann Holland married
Samuel E. Brothers, son of Samuel S. Brothers and Catherine Gates. Did
Julia Ann marry both gentlemen or were there two ladies by the same name?

I am trying to find someone living in Daviess County who would be able to do some deed research for me.
I'm trying to locate the deeds for the sale of the following tracts of land that were patented by Peter Hedrick (Headrick) (Hetrick).
On October 1, 1821, he patented the West Half of the Southwest Quarter of Section Twenty-eight, Township Three, Range Seven by Certificate #206.
His second track of land was purchased on May 21, 1831 under Certificate #2233 and that was the South Half of the Northwest Quarter of Section Twenty-two, Township Three, Range Seven.
The third patent came under Certificate #16458 on February 1, 1839 for the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section Three, Township Three, Range Seven.
As best as I can figure, these three tracks of land are located in Washington Township, Daviess County, Indiana.
Peter's wife in 1821 was Mary. He may have owned other land in the same vicinity of these tracks but did not patent the land. By the time the 1840 census was taken, he had moved to Greene County. I'm figuring this land has been sold around that time.
I would like copies of the deeds when this land was sold also. Please also let me know what your charges will be so I can forward the funds to you.
Thank you.

Looking for information regarding John Davidson who was in the probate records for Davies county, Indiana in 1806. Probate notices were in the Vincennes Western Sun indicating there were other relatives not living in Davies county. Need to know who he was married to and any descendents and where he was from. Am trying to find if he was connected to Daniel Davidson who came to Sullivan Co., Indiana from Jefferson county Ky about 1818. Could he possibly be Daniel's father? One of Daniel Davidson's daughters, Mary Elizabeth, was married to Harrison Alsman (from Sullivan County). Harrison Alsman died in the home of his son in Davies county and was buried in the Trimble cemetery at Carlisle in December 1900. Any help will be greatly appreciated. This is my brick wall.
