I have the feeling that we have 2 different Herchell's here. The moving around as a child sounds right as I believe at least one of his parents had died. Herchell's obit states he died at age 59 and this was in Oakland, Calif. 14 Sept. 1952. He married the first time in Kansas City Mo. in 1910. They had a child in 1911. In 1916 he marries Emma Allen in Indiana and they have 2 children. In 1930 census, I find him in Topeka with his 3rd wife and first born child. It appears that Leo C. Yates does come back to Indiana and dies there. Is the Methodist Memorial Home a children's home? I appreciate your help. Thanks.

I found Andrew Whites obit . It says he was a civil war vet and is buried in Aikman Creek Cemetary. It says he was 67 yrs. old but if same Andrew according to 1850 census records he would have been 69. He had six living children. I can't make out the names of all of his children. But I want to know about Mary Ellen. She married Miles Clark and had 2 children, William and Edward. I know about them but nothing about her.

On April 4, 1878 my 2x GGF Peter Ragle married Rachel J. Smeltzer, after
the death of his first wife in the spring of 1876. The place of marriage
is unknown, but Peter Ragle was a long-term resident of Raglesville, Van
Buren Twp. Daviess Co.
I can find no information on Rachel Smeltzer other than that she is
supposed to have come from TN. Here again, there seems no connection,
other than a Charles Smeltzer in the 1850 TN Federal Census.
I would be very pleased to receive any information on Rachel Smeltzer.

"OBITUARY"
Peter Ragle had gone out to his barn to feed his stock Wednesday, Nov,
17, and when he called by his wife answered, but not coming to the house
for some time, Mrs. Ragle sent a boy after him. The boy found the old
gentleman in the barn dead with a basket of corn on his arm. He had
died suddenly from a smothering spell, to which he was sometimes subject.
Mr. Ragle was eighty three years old, was a pioneer of Daviess County,
having settled on the place where he died near Raglesville, many years
ago. He was at one time Colonel of a militia regiment under the old
militia law. He belonged to the Methodist Church, had eight sons, four of
whom are living, and five daughters who are living. The Gazette joins
with many friends in sympathizing with the bereaved family"

Tuesday Afternoon, Joseph Sommers (My GGGrandfather on my GGrandmothers

of Christian purity, piety and love. He leaves an aged wife, six

I am very happy to hear from you. I have very little information on the brothers and sisters of my Grandmother Olive Jackman Myers. In my notes on your Grandmother Constance I have: "Lived in Cannelsburg, had peacocks, and she was lots of fun". I think that information came from my mother. I also know she married Frank Swickard.
I have a lot of information generously given to me by others about the Burris and Allen families that I'll gladly share with you.
Let me know the best way to get my information to you.
