This is interesting- yes My Mira, at least according to everything that I have found, was the daughter of Samuel and Nancy. Though my Mira was married to William Henry. I am at work so I don't have dates with me. I will have to look at my dates and compare and let you know.

Would someone be able to verify the marriage/s for:
Alvin H. McCain to
America Fry in Daviess Co., IN
on Dec 26, 1882 ?
Do these marriage records indicate parent names?
I am also told that America Fry McCain re-married to Doctor Bridwell on
Sept 30, 1886.
Are death records available for 1882 - 1886 ?
Thank you for any help! I hope to post some info on my PRUETT and McCAIN
lines sometime in the next week.
Sharon

Subject: Re: [INDAVIES] Re: mira potts henry
Hi
I've been under the impression that it was James' daughter Mira who married
James Johnson. In the 1880 census [(T-9 R271, Harrison Twp., Daviess Co.,
p. 492)] there's a James Johnson, 28, married to Myra A., 30. In that same
family unit was listed Sarah E. Potts, sister-in-law [to the head of the
family, James Johnson], who was listed as 16. Sarah E. Potts was born about
1862 to James Harvey Potts and Elizabeth Edwards. However, the 1880 census
lists an 18 yr. old Sarah E. Potts as living with James Harvey and family
[Reeves Twp. (T-9 R271, p. 472, 42nd dwelling visited)]
I don't see a problem here...more than once I've had a relative appear twice on the same census. The census was taken over a period of days/weeks. Sarah could likely have been with her sister helping to care for small children (and getting out of her own mother's hair!!)
Do you have the rest of Mira Potts/James Johnson's children? I just have three but there were 8,
Thanks
Michele

Looking for information on the following families:
William CHAPMAN and Ruth MILLER md Daviess Co. 1818
Benjamin FREELAND and Polly MILLER md Daviess 1820
Nancy ENGLISH and Daniel MILLER md Daviess 1828
Moses BALDWIN and Hannah MILLER md Daviess 1832.
Any information greatly appreciated. I'm at a dead end with my Miller families. Looking for connections to Alexander B. Miller and Levice (Luviey, Lavina, Louvisa) McKinley md Daviess Co 1822. Thanks, Pam
Louise,
I'm not sure who you were sending this to on the message board, but here's
what I have (from a variety of people/sources). I don't know if I'm correct
or not:
I have records of two Mira(h)/Myra Potts:
one born to Samuel Potts and Nancy Taylor, 13 July 1826 [posted 4 May 2000
on Daviess Co. Message Board by "Melanie," teaser(a)primary.net]
and one born to James Harvey Potts and Elizabeth Edwards. Various sources
give the birthdate of this Mira as around 1849, which is likely since James
and Elizabeth married in May 1844.
The marriage info I found in the LDS IGI, that a Mira Ann Potts married
William H. Henry, 19 November 1850 suggests that this Mira must be Sam's
daughter, who'd be 24 at that time, whereas James's daughter Mira would be
only 6.
Potts, sister-in-law [to the head of the

lists an 18 yr. old Sarah E. Potts as living with James Harvey and family
[Reeves Twp. (T-9 R271, p. 472, 42nd dwelling visited)]
The 1910 census lists a James Johnson, 58 and wife "Myria," 59, married 30
years, having borne 8 children. [1910 (T-624 R344, NW 9th St., Washington,
Daviess Co.)]
The ages of the Mira/Myria Johnson in the 1880 and 1910 censuses would make
Mira born about 1849 or 1850; the 1850 census lists a name that looks like
"Mira" as one year old in the James Harvey household [1850, "Free
Inhabitants" of Reeves Twp. (M432 Roll 140 pp. 398-399)].
Am I off base here?
