Wanda,
My Mother was a WALLS, her father was THOMAS H. WALLS, and his father was RALPH WALLS (Rafe) and then his father was JOHN C. WALLS. I haven't had any real success on who the parents are for JOHN C. WALLS..JOHN C. WALLS was from Virginia and got married in Kentucky (Mercer County) to a MELINDA JANE FIELDS and they ended up in southern Indiana. (Martin County).
If you have any info on this line would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks.
Judy

I know this message was posted long ago, but I just saw it. I have a Della R. (myers) that married James W. Clark and after he died she married a James Kitterman. Her birth date is 9/7/1853 and she died 2/6/1915 and is buried in Veales Creek Cemetery. Let me know if this helps you..Oh yes, her mother was named Sarah..
Some time ago Elizabeth whose email address was troyboy(a)net-link.net
(person unknown now) left a notice on the Nolan web site at the following URL:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nolanj/resrchlk.htm.
The content of her notice is as follows:
"My beloved paternal Grandmother was Mary Agnes NOLAN LENTS (1903 - 1998)
Mary Agnes NOLAN was the first of ten children of:
Presley NOLAN, b. 1866 and d. 1955 and Emma FEGAN (unknown). Presley was
one of at least 13 children of:
Lawrence NOWLEN, b. 1808 in Ireland and died 1872 (possibly IN area) and
Elizabeth (Betsy) PATTERSON (unknown date & place). noted that their
children had various surname spellings of
NOWLEN, NOLAN, and NOLEN.
Lawrence had two brothers, Edward and James. James stayed in the Montgomery
Indiana area and married Elizabeth BREWER. Edward was rumored to have gone
out west, possibly to Texas."
Since her email address (above) is no longer current, I hope she will
respond to this notice. There are other researchers interested in the line
of Lawrence Nowlen/Nolan/Nolen.

John--I have information on Margaret Nolan Kavanaugh. But not any regarding her ancestry. I have information regarding her descendants, which I received from one of her great grandsons. I am most interested to see if you have information regarding other Nolans(Nolen, Nowlen) who live in Daviess County and came from St. Mary's Parish, Wexford, Ireland as well. My gg grandfather is Lawrence Nowlen b.2/1808 St. Mary's Parish, County Wexford, Ireland and died 7/12/1878 in Daviess County, Indiana, m.Elizabeth Patterson on 10/31/1844. Any record of John having come to America with a brother named Lawrence. We have the initial spelling being Nowlen. Lawrence and Elizabeth had thirteen children and they spelled the surname three different ways. The children's names by my records goes as follows: Margaret Nolen, Mary Nowlen, Joseph Nowlen, Catherine Nolen, Patrick P.(Bud) Nolen, George william Nolen, Hester Nolen, John Ambrose Nolan, Martha Nolen, Julia Ellen Nolen, Robert No!
len, Presley Nolan, Cecelia Appolonia Nolen. I taught John and Lawrence might be brother seeing Lawrence named his 1st daughter Margaret and his 1st son John. Although I also realize they are popular Irish names. If any of this connects and/or you want to share Kavanaugh information let me know.

I forgot to ask in my last query. Since your last name is HART, I am wondering if we may have some connection their.
My ggg grandfather James Hart 1780-1865, gg grandfather James Matthew Hart 1823-1896, g grandfather John Patrick Hart 1867-1925, grandfather James Matthew Hart 1893-1966 and father Paul Bernard Hart 1921-1967. Most of these HART have lived in Cannelburg, Barr Township?, Daviess County, Indiana. These Harts are believed to come up through the Cumberland Gap and Migrated with the RR, as best I am researching so far. Any connection there?

Are you related to the RYAN's in Washington, Daviess County, Indiana and St. Marys, Martin County, Indiana? I am related to the RYANS, DOYLES, NOLENS(NOLANS,NOWLENS), EAGANS and HARTS all of Daviess County. Except for my dad, Paul Bernard Hart and his brother who moved to Loogootee, Martin County, Indiana around 1955. I now live in Burlington, North Carolina. Good luck with your research! Marianne
Clara,
If you are talking about Old Union Cemetery near Alfordsville, I was
there last March and had the dickens of a time finding it. It was
WELL worth the time I spent, though, and you may want to consider the
Alfordsville Cemetery, too. ALLOW LOTS OF TIME AND FILM. I stayed
for several hours in the Alfordsville and Old Union Cemeteries and
could have stayed much longer.
Alfordsville is on my Rand-McNally Road Atlas, about 12 miles
northwest of Jasper. The Alfordsville turn-off was marked as I came
from the north, but a bit hard to actually catch. It's a little,
twisty, hilly, back road that goes sort of parallel to 231 for about
1/4 mile and then goes west for a lot longer distance than I
expected. I kept thinking I'd made the wrong turn.
Once I got to Alfordsville, I again thought I'd made the wrong turn.
It was a small clump of houses with a tiny gas station out of the
'30's, and a greenhouse just to the south of that. The attendant, a
young girl, was very helpful and gave me instructions. I'm sorry I
don't have street names.
Basically, a couple blocks east of the gas station is the main
north-south road. If you go NORTH about 1/2 - 1 mile, the water
tower is on the northwest side of the curve and Alfordsville Cemetery
is to the southeast. If you go SOUTH about 1-2 miles, the road south
turns to gravel and the paved road turns west. You then go up a
small hill and take a left. The Old Union Church is there, complete
with historic marker in front. The cemetery was obviously cleaned up
recently, but some of the very old tombstones are laying flat.
Also, consider visiting the Jasper library for a day or 2 (or
several). It has a very nice genealogical facility, with information
on much of the surrounding area. If you have any more questions,
feel free to contact me.
