Have you been to the Historical Society museum in Washington? They have all
kinds of "stuff" there...old photos and goodies of schools, students,
programs, etc.. A whole room of school stuff. There may be something of
interest...and certainly a great presentation could be made with them. I'd
call the curator and inquire/visit.

In the papers of my husband's grandmother, Ava (Edwards) Dougherty, we found the program for the dedication of the "new" Plainville High School in 1924 (includes historical sketch and 1924/25 faculty). We also found the 1924 and 1925 programs for the PHS Commencement.
I have seen the wonderful report of the Steele township one-room schools by Jane Keith.
The new consolidated North Daviess Elementary school is now open and planning a dedication service in March 2002. Does anyone else have historical information on the Elnora or Odon schools that could be used in the planning of this dedication?
Thank you,
Debra Dougherty

I am looking for Mildred Johns born late 1800's or early 1900's. She was married to a man with the last name Able. She had one son. She passed away around 1967-1972. She lived most of her life; I believe in Wheatland, Indiana, Knox County. She lived behind me and I use to visit her with my mother as a child. I am related to Johnson family and I am trying to find out if I was related to her. I feel, I probably am related to her.
Does anyone know who her parents might of been? Does anyone know her husband, UNKNOWN Able or her son? I would like to find her parents, siblings, etc... I had relatives living around me as a small child. Mattingly, Armes, Scott, Smith, Johnson, Hedrick. I am wondering if she is related to the Johnson's of Daviess and Knox County.
If anyone, has any info to share; please let me know. Thank you for your help.

First, a quick bio:
Mary M. STOY nee RAGLE b. 28 Jan 1863 Raglesville, IN, father Robert Ragle,
mother Nancy Richardson. Married George Mead STOY July 4, 1888. Mary Stoy
died San Bernardino 28 March, 1946.
Mr. and Mrs. Stoy resided lived in Colton, CA in the greater San Bernardino
area. George Mead Stoy was a son of Abraham F. Stoy, owner of a coal mine
near Odon and Raglesville. At least one child of the couple was born in Odon.
I would very much like to have an obit on either Mary or George. I don't
know where or when George died. The newspapers in the Colton area carried
only a death notice for Mary, no obit. I am hoping that perhaps an Odon
paper carried a full obit on one or both of these people.
I am also seeking info on Hattie Stoy, dau. George and Mary. married
LESTER, and Georgie Stoy, dau. George and Mary, b. 1901.
Many thanks,

Looking for info on the Mead(s) Families of Daviess County, Indiana. Elmer E. Meade born about 1860 married Mary Ella Critchlow February 17, 1884 in Daviess County. His parents may have been John B. and Jane Ashcroft Mead(s) who married in Daviess County on July 08, 1845. Their other children may include William S, Mary Madora, Darius E, Laura Allen, Ida and Martha Mead(s).
John B. Mead(s) father may have been William Meades Sr.
born about 1791 in Maryland and died in Daviess County on November 27, 1856. This one has me super stumped and I would appreciate any leads. Have some info on the Crichlow family (Mary Ella and Elmer E. were my great grandparents) and would also like to hear from any Critchlow decendants.
Some one please help!
Thanks!

If this is your man, I'd try the Lawrence Co census records in 1840 and 1850
to see which Lamb families were there and old enough. In 1840 which families
had son 10-15 years old, maybe 15-20. That should narrow it down.

etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you
have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared
with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for
our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to

line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost
only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address.
Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two
brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are
the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the
maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their
lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is
everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions.

Hi,
I was wondering if your Edwards family was related to my Edwards family. Where were your Edwards from?
I am descendant of Henry Edwards b. 1769 Pennslyvania; who migrated to Daviess County, Indiana. He married Elizabeth Rodarmel b. bet 1776-1777. They married June 4, 1787 in Pennslyvania.
My line comes down thru his son William Edwards and Harriet Knowland, their son, John "Samuel Harriet" Edwards, Sr. and Harriett "Harriet" Scott.
You can view my Edwards family and more at the following link below to my Webpage. Click on link for my family tree at Rootsweb on this page.

I saw your notice in the Daviess county page. Do you have a Catherine McAtee
who married Hayden White in 1878? There were two Catherine's at the time but
I think this one was the daughter of Felix McAtee. Thank you for your time,
Donna dknind(a)prodigy.net
I have three Catherine McAtees:
CAtherine McAtee who married Roswell Boarman and lived in Marion Co, KY--this
wouldn't be her.
Catherine Amanda McAtee b. 4 Oct 1860 Daviess Co, IN to John Henry 'Jock'
McAtee and Theresa Louise Brewer. She married Thomas Martin Patterson 18 Oct
1878 at St. Mary's, Barr Twp, Daviess Co, IN. She died 14 Mar 1893 in
Loogootee, Martin Co, IN.
Catherine E. McAtee b. 18 Jun 1843 dau of Daniel McAtee and Lucinda A. 'Lucy'
Kidwell. She died in infancy 17 Aug 1843.
I don't have all the information on Felix D. (Daniel?) McAtee and Sarah Jane
Smith's children. I'm showing John Henry, Mary Angeline, Julia Ann,
Nicholas Albert, James A., Rebecca Ann, and Martha N. (born 1848-1866).
Anybody else have anything out there?
Shirley
