Surname: Couchman, Steele
-------------------------
My Couchman ancestors, Jesse F. and George, apparently went to Daviess
Co. before settling in Owen Co. (early 1800s), but I haven't been able
to find anything showing that. One source says Jesse was born in Daviess
Co.(1821). There was a related John Couchman who had two farms, one in
Daviess Co. and one in Owen Co., when he died in 1827. If anyone has come
across these names in Daviess Co. I would really appreciate hearing about
them. And if anyone could give me a clue about sources to check, that would
be very helpful since I am new to Daviess Co. research. Nancy Couchman

Janice,
In comparing your information with what I have, I would venture to say
we have a match!
My information on your branch deals mostly with Julia Ann (Julian) Wade
and her family. I have Julia's birth listed as September 29, 1824, in Lawrence
County, Indiana and her death as November 25, 1882, in Daviess County,
Indiana. She married George W. Hackler in Daviess County on April 8, 1843.
I too have George W. Hackler's birth listed as May 25, 1824. My list of
their children include; Sam, Dunkin, Mary, Jane, Liza, and Eran.
As I said before, most of my information is on Julia Ann and her parents,
John Evan and Eleanor "Mary Ellen" (Brewer) Wade. In exchange for George
W. Hackler's obituary and family charts, I will mail you what I have. My
address is 600 Highland Avenue, South Charleston, WV 25303. My FTM includes
John Evan's lineage (Wade and Harden) and Eleanor's ancestral lineage (Brewer
and Yates). This genealogy report is certainly too extensive to include
in this message or e-mail.
I look forward to your reply. Mary Ann Wade

Surname: Wade, Hackler, Williams, Karr
-------------------------
I am a decendant of a "Julian Wade" who was married to George W. Hackler
of Loogootee, Indiana.
He was born May 25, 1824 in Lawrence County and went to Raglesville community
as a boy. In 1843 he married "Julian Wade". They had thirteen children,
some of whom we believe lived in Daviess County.
I think that "Julian Wade"(as written in George Hackler's obituary) is
the same Julia Ann Wade, daughter of John Evan Wade and Eleanor "Mary Ellen"
Brewer that you mention in your posting.
I would really appreciate any further information you could give on this
side of the Hackler/Wade family as my family is also trying to gather information
on our ancestors.
We are so excited to have found a possible family connection!
Thank you very much.

Hello Listers! Hope you had a great Holiday Season! During my time around
this list, I have been hoping for someone having interest in MY family of

Raglesville (DOB 1830/DOD1869) and most of his kids grew up in ODON during

Indianapolis where MY Grandfather, Father and I were born.(Not all in the
same year HA-HA), anyway, between GEORGE'S siblings and offspring and their

Hello Daviess county,
I just joined your e'mail link. I noticed that there is a town named Graham in Daviess county. Can anyone tell me how it got that name? I am researching Grahams in Indiana. I'm wondering if that town is connected to my family.
Thank-you,
