Back in the 1880's the Goodspeed Publishing Company had a land office
business going from county to county and putting together very nice histories
of most of the counties in the US. In the back of each volume, individuals
could "subscribe" and also submit a history of their family. These hundred
year old family histories often include names and places of birth of parents
and grandparents....really invaluable information in research. Additionally,
they are newsy and informative...discussing the occupation, children,
religion and political bent of the individuals listed.
Many of available in larger libraries or have been microfilmed by the LDS
Family History Library.

Surname: Calhoun, Robinson

Can you tell us if there is a Nancy Robinson in your files/family history
that m. a James Calhoun and then came to Daviess Co., IN with your Robinsons.
We are at a long standstill (over 20 years) on this James Calhoun and lately
the name Robinson surname has been mentioned as a possiblity for Nancy.
James and Nancy (?) Calhoun came to Daviess Co., IN perhaps about 1830
or so, he died before 1850 and Nancy Calhoun is listed on the 1850 Census
without him. He is susposed to be buried in the Old City Cemetery, but
the grave has been moved somewhere else. Thanks.

Hello,
I'm curious. Looked over your site, but, still need to ask (cause I
couldn't find) are your ROBINSON's related to any of these. It might be
easier to read if blown up. If you see anything remotely familiar,
please, do let me know.

Thanks for your response, Ron! I had guessed that Margaret Ward Tewell
had died very young because on the 1900 census, I found her sister Mary
with three Tewells living with her. There were listed as James L. (who
I suppose was the Louis James you mentioned), Margaret, and a baby Clarence.
Do you have any idea who Clarence was? I also found William Tewell living
with a new wife and baby.
Do you have a death date for Francis and his mother? And while I'm asking,
did the Tewells have a James or a Francis in their family? Where did those
names come from? I'm seeking the father of Lewis, and I'm grasping at straws.

My ggggrandfather, Peter Kinnaman, entered Madison Township, Daviess County,
1838. He had 10 children who all ended up in Indiana. Of these 10, there
were two daughters who I cannot find information on.
They were 1)CHRISTINA KINNAMAN who married JOSEPH WRIGHT in Ohio, and later
moved to Daviess County, perhaps with her father, Peter, in 1838. She inherited
30 acres in Section 19 in Madison Township. She died in Daviess County
in 1844. I am looking for information concerning her children.
2) CATHERINE KINNAMAN who married CHARLES ORGAN in Daviess County. She
may also have married CHARLES OSBORN. I am looking for information on her
children also.
I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Surname: WARD, MONTGOMERY, MILES
-------------------------
I am seeking information about the family of Lewis (b. c1798) and Margaret
(Montgomery) WARD (b.1810).
In 1842, Lewis and Margaret WARD moved to Daviess CO. The 1850, 1860, and
1870 censuses showed this family in Alfordsville.
Children were:
Martha Ann Ward ARVIN (William)
Catherine Ward CANNON (Isaac)
John Lewis WARD (Susan Amanda MILES)
Rebecca Jane Ward BURCH (Michael A.)
Nancy Ann Ward SUMMERS (Thomas)
James Pius WARD (Martha Jane MILES)
Joseph Ezekiel WARD
Lucy Ann Ward QUEEN (Richard Marsham)
Hillary WARD (Sarah Jane BURCH)
Louvinia/Lavina Ward MILES (Elza B.) CLEMENTS (Bazel)
Mary Dorena Martina Ward STRANGE (John S.)
Margaret Ward TEWELL (William)
Lewis must have died between 1870-80. Margaret was alive for the 1880 census
where she was found living with her unmarried daughter Mary in Martin CO.
She died in 1890.
I am most interested in finding the death and burial information for Lewis.
However, I would be pleased to discover anything more about the children
as well. My connection is John Lewis Ward.
