The names on this 1850 Census for Monroe Co, IN look like those in the 1850
census of Daviess Co, IN! Is this an error????
Can anyone tell me if this is really the Monroe Co, In 1850 Census?

Surname: MYERS, COMPTON, WISE, BRUMET, HIXSON, BLINE, HENRY
-------------------------
According to my grandmother's sister, Mildred Bline Thompson, her grandmother's
parents moved from Claiborne Co., TN, to near Maysville, Daviess Co., IN,
in 1868.
They were:
Valentine MYERS (b. 1832) and (Sarah) Jane WHITFIELD (b. 1832 d. 1917)
(haven't been able to verify that maiden name, but that's what Mildred
said it was).
They were listed on the Claiborne Co., TN, census for 1860.
Their kids were:
Rachael (b. 1853) (I think she stayed in TN -- the rest of the kids came
to IN)
Simeon/Simon (b. 1854)
Lewis (b. 1855)
Mary (b. 1857)(m. ?? WISE)
Nelson (b. 1859)
Vina (b. 1860-68)(m. ?? COMPTON)
Minerva (b. 1860-68)(m. Leo HIXSON)
Rhoda (b. 1860-68)(m. ?? HENRY)
Catharine (b. 1860-68)(m. Leroy J. BRUMET)
James (b. 1860-68)
Martha Jane (b. abt. 1866)(m. Wm. Edward Bline)
If anyone has ancestors who married into this family, I'd be very happy
to exchange information (and a photo of Martha Myers and Wm. Edward Bline
and their family). This is a MYERS family that seems to be different from
the one most of the other MYERS posts are related to.
Thanks!

The 1870 Daviess Co., IN census lists the following:
EDMONDSON, William. 36, male, white. Laborer. No real estate value, no
property value. Born IN. Cannot read or write.
Matilda?. 36, female, white. Keeping house. Born IN. Cannot read or write.

George. 8, male, white. Born IN.

Does this family ring a bell with anyone? I believe that James Edmondson,
listed above as 3 years old, is my g-g-grandfather.
Thanks!
Helen:
I guess I didn't read your whole query. My mother ran around with a
Pearl Miller who married
James Tolson. I know nothing of the family, except Pearl died abt 1989,
and Jim died abt.
1990-91. He was living with his daughter and her family at the time of
his death.
I don't know if his daughter is still living in the Bloomington area or
not, and if her and her
husband are still married? I've not talked to her in years. So I don't
know much. I know
really more about the Millers, than the Tolsons.
But will help if I can, at least put you in contact with perhaps some
family.

Lickskillet, is a small little burg in South Washington,Washington Twp.,
Daviess Co.,. It is still in
exsistence today, but mostly homes. There is none of the old businesses
left there, but just a few
new business. The old Jefferson Elementary School still stands there,
which now our Daviess Co., Museum. It's very nice, and has a lot of
historical information there, that folks have donated.
So what do you need to know about Lickskillet? I can help to a
point.......otherwise you could
contact the Washington Carnegie Library. I can give that information to
you also.

South Washington, on Rte 57S about a mile south of Washington, is commonly
known as "Lickskillet." You can read a few of the supposed origins of this
name in L Rex Myers' "Daviess County, Indiana: History," Vol. 1, p. 186,
col. 2. Unfortunately, there are several other places in Indiana with this
place name as well. The one near Washington is at Section 3 T3N R7W in
Washington Twp.

Bessie is listed in the 1910 census, but by 1920, Ray has married Pearl.
I know Pearl is not Bessie, and I suspect Bessie died prior to 1920. Ray
and Bessie had a son Burton. Would appreciate any help anyone is able to

Surname: Ruminer, Taylor

Melanie,
I really don't recognize the Anna's name. However, if you give me more
information i.e. dates and places, maybe I have something in file. I have
printed every little piece of Ruminer information I've found, even though
it hasn't helped me make any links. I'm hopeful that one day, I'll get
a parent or sibling name and I can make some connections.
Where are you from, and how are you related to Anna Ruminer?
