Surname: McCammon, Chestnut, Mahan, Hill, McGarvey, McClanahan
-------------------------
Can anyone tell me how far back the marriage records go in Daviess Co.?
I'm looking for the marriage record of William McCammon b. Nov. 6, 1790
and Patience Chestnut b. Dec 28, 1797. They were supposedly married in
Daviess Co. They were married before (or in) 1828 when they moved to Sullivan
Co., IN. I'm trying to find the names of their parents.
Is anyone one researching Joshua Palmer d. 1827 Daviess Co, m.Catherine
Holland? I am trying to find to which Palmer family in Union Co, SC he
belongs.
I have a list of people buried in Ebenezer Cemetery, Daviess Co. I will
look for anyone interested.
Mildred K
Kathy,
My grandmother was Mary Jane Brown, daughter of Thomas Edward Brown and
Rachel Abel, granddaughter of William Brown and Mary C. Abel. Thomas was a
brother to James L. Brown. Am interested in putting together the descendants
of the other children of William Brown and Mary C. Bramble.

Hello Friends!
I am researching in Daviess County for my ancestors, Thomas Allen and
his wife Prudence Chapman. I have found their marriage record in
1833. Apparently Thomas Allen died before 1842 because I find Mrs.
Prudence Allen married Jesse Godden (or Godwin, as on 1850 census).
I believe that Prudence Chapman's parents were Elijah Chapman and
Elizabeth Miller. Elizabeth Miller Chapman married James McCarty
(after the death of Elijah about 1823).
Are there any books or pamphlets on cemeteries in Daviess County? I
believe that Prudence (Chapman, Allen) Godwin or Godden may have died
before 1856 when daughters Mary Ellen Allen and Elizabeth Allen sold
the property as heirs of Thomas Allen. I believe that Jesse Godwin &
family may have been living on that property in 1850 census, although
neither Elizabeth nor Mary Ellen were living with that family. I
believe that Mary Ellen Allen is the Mary E. Allen who was living with
Elizabeth & James McCarty in 1850. (Elizabeth McCarty would have been
her grandmother) I am trying to find out when Thomas Allen died and
where was he buried; and when Prudence Godden/Godwin died and where
she was buried.
I would also be interested in where James Allen (father of Thos) and
his wife, Mary Wheatley are buried.
I think that all of these people lived in Harrison Township at one
time or another. Thank you so much for any information you might
share.

Daviess County, Ind. Jan. 21, 1869 Guardian report-- Case number 125 --
The minor heirs of Samuel Bird deceased.
Elias Myers, Jr., Guardian, says that no funds have come to his hands since
his appointment as guardian. He said that it is the desire of the minor
children and their mother that Edward B. Nolly, the uncle, be appointed the
childrens guardian. Elias Myers submitted his resignation and Edward Nolly
was appointed guardian. Edward executed his bond and surety with the court.

Surname: Brown, Harris
-------------------------
Not sure if this helps but Laveda Brown Harris was born 21 Feb 1897 and
died November 1981. Last residence according to SSDI Search was Washington,
IN. At this point I do not know which Harris she married but would assume
it was sometime around 1917-1920s or so in Daviess Co. I don't have access
to the Daviess Co. Marriages for that time so I haven't been able to find
out who she married yet.
