Message Board Post:
I have a question concerning photographers and related businesses in Clinton County,
Indiana. I have a pair of framed photos of my ancestors Richard Frazier and his wife Mary
Ann (York) Frazier. The photos are in oval wood frames, about 14" x 12". On the
back of one of these is the following:
"From H. O. Reichert's Star Art Gallery, Photographer, And Dealer in Albums,
Stereoscopes and Views, Chromos and _______ of all kinds, Mouldings, Square and Oval
Frames. Particular Attention Paid to Copying and Enlarging, finishing in [In]dia Ink,
Water or Oil Colors. Coulter's New Brick Frankfort, Ind."
I do not know the date when the photos were taken. I have some guesses based on her
clothing, but I can only be sure the photos were taken between 1836, when Richard, his
wife Mary Ann, and her parents, Abraham and Mary (McCormick) York, arrived in Clinton
County and built a log cabin; and 1887, when Richard Frazier died. If I knew more about
the years that the photographer was in business, I might have a more accurate date for the
photos.
Jan Beasley, gr-gr-granddaughter of Richard and Mary Frazier
