Thank you for the kind and thorough reply.
Did have the census data for 1900 and 1910, but your find in 1930 is very interesting and
helpful,
Likely that is Eleanor Rowland in 1930, even though age is slightly off.
Our family ancestry records had always noted that Mary Evans was our g-grandmother, i.e.
mother of John E. and David Rowland.
Thomas Rowland immigrated after 1880 and both he and the mother of John and David died
before 1900.
After recent research, also starting to think, like you, that Mary Evans was his 2nd wife,
and Eleanor was their daughter.
Since both parents died young, easy to see how family notes could saya that Mary Evans was
our g-grandmother.
Also, with the SSN death date same month as 1900 census, even though Dec 1893 vs Dec 1894,
seems probable that Eleanor Rowland died 1992. She lived a long life.
The first wife of Thomas may have also been named Mary, but not confirmed.
A Mary Rowland, died during childbirth, 30 Aug 1891 in Jackson Ohio. An unnamed infant
died the following day. There is a Mary Rowland buried at the Jackson Ohio Fairmont
Cemetery, W1/2 lot 78, old section, 2nd from south line.
1880 census of Jackson County OH includes a Mary Ellen Evans, age 10, in household of
William O Evans.
Will research this further, but may have learned that our ancestry on this particular line
is other than Evans.
Thanks again Karen. Good research.
David
