Debi, I wish we had connected a long time ago. It sounds like your James G Leach is
definitely the brother of Francis A. Leach as well as the relative in my line, Abel W.
Leach. If the DAR accepted the proof it must be pretty certain.
One of the things that I am interested in right now is whether there is a record of a
divorce between Joshua D. and Margeret Gobens. I always assumed that she had died before
Joshua came to IN. but I see on someone's family tree that her death didn't occur
until the 1890s. I wonder if any one has documentation of her death and if they know of a
burial place and the cause of death.
Apparently no one can find Joshua D's father Joshua's stone in Butler County
although his military records show that he is buried there. James G. may have stayed with
his mother in OH when others of the family came to IN. Perhaps that is why I had so much
trouble locating him. It is interesting that the three younger daughters are with their
father in IN in 1850.
I also do not have much information about Joshua D's second wife, Ann. When Abel
ordered her gravestone he indicated that she was his stepmother. Other than that and the
fact that she is in the will and census records, we don't know much. I need to do some
more digging.
What kind of information do you want from me?
