Joyce,
I went to the library today. I didn't find much. Actually nothing that I
think is of relevance to you.
I looked in the Clinton County Marriage Books from the early 1800's to about
1850 + . It could have been later than that. There were 2 books. Neither
of them had any of the Michael family listed.
There was a listing for a Mrs. George Michael having died Oct. 13, 1906, but
if Nancy's husband died around 1832, I doubt she remained a widow all of
those years.
In the obit card catalog was a listing for a William Michaels who died on
March 26, 1897. I went to the cemetery card catalog and he is buried at
Plainview. Then I went to the Cemetery Book that had Plainview. It stated
he was 63 years and 14 days. That would have made him born in 1834 which
didn't match the dates you gave me.
I also searched that card catalog for and found George Michael who died in
1839 buried in Brandon Cemetery. I went to that book and it stated he was
68 yr., 11 m., 8 days. That would make him born in 1771 and I didn't think
that was the right one either.
I checked Clinton County births which said some were recorded as early as
1814, but since it wasn't state law, I doubt they have records for very many
born that early. Anyhow there was not any listings for any of the names you
gave me.
I also searched everything for Samuel Stevens and Frances Cullum.
I didn't have time to check the surname folders or go over the court record
index. The court record index is online at the library site. If you check
it and find something you would like for me to look at, I can do it, but
beware, I only make it to Frankfort a couple times a year, so it might be
awhile.

Subject: Re: [Clinton Co IN] Going to Library
For many, many years I have been trying to verify the maiden name of my
great grandmother. She was born in Indiana, but was living in Van Buren
Co., AR by 1850 with her first husband. Her name is Harriet Jane ?. I
think her maiden name is Michael. I think she is the child Harriet Jane
Michael in some Clinton Co., IN documents. However, I cannot find the
record of her marriage to her first husband Francis M Cullum. The Van
Buren Co.,AR court house burned and marriage records before 1850 were
destroyed.
Listed below is some of the documentation I have found:
Indiana Census, 1790-1890

I have not been able to locate a marriage record for Frances & Harriet in
Indiana either.
Any information you might find would be appreciated.

I intend to go to the Frankfort Library tomorrow Oct. 9, 2013. If I
can
look up anything for anyone, I will try to fill requests. Copying obits
there cost .50 each if they are on the micro film, .10 if they are in a
book. I don't mind to pay for one (.50) for each person, but if you want
more than that, I would appreciate reimbursement. I do not charge to look
anything up, that is free gratis. I have thought about trying to take a
picture of the screen with my cell phone, but it doesn't take clear
pictures. I will check my mail before I leave tomorrow.
