Hi Chris Brown and fellow list members,
I sure appreciate your willingness to do lookups and scans, etc. from the
1895 History. I recognized several surnames from the lists you published
from the book. I could send a list of names as long as your arm, but the
main ones I can think of are DOUGLASS, BYERS, ROSS, ARMSTRONG, CATTERLIN,
ISGRIGG, STEELE, PAINTER, McCRAY, SMILEY, CARTER, PHARES, RATLIFF, CHANEY,
LUCAS, GEARHART.
These are the portraits I'm interested in. If anyone else out there knows
about these folks, please e-mail me! Clinton County Portraits:
DOUGLASS I.W. (This is Isaac Walker Douglass, MD, son of Benj. F. Douglass
and Mary G. Thomas.)
PAINTER I.N. (Salina Douglass m. Wm. Carter and their daughter, Margaret m.
Henry Painter. Could be a son, I don't have their children.)
ROSS J.A. (I have Rosses in my direct line--Margaret Ross m. Thomas
Smiley, Sr.--but I haven't researched the family.)
1895 Clinton Co. old settlers portraits:
Isaac D. ARMSTRONG (Son of Wm. Armstrong and Eliza Douglass)
Noah T. CATTERLIN (How related to Ephraim, Louvier's father?)
Jackson DOUGLASS (I think there were two, mine is the son of John and
Susannah Byers)
William ISGRIGG (How is he related to Elizabeth and Alice?)
Joseph K. STEELE (How is he related to Mary Steele, wife of Joseph
Douglass Sr.?)
It may be easier to zip up the pix and send them direct. I have a scanner,
too, so I can read most formats.
Thanks a million.
