Chris Brown has been posting biographies from "A Portrait And Biographical
Record of Boone and Clinton Counties, Ind.," published in 1895 by A.W. Bowen &
Co. Chicago. I hope everyone realizes how time consuming this exercise is
and how immensely valuable.
As a result of his posting for David MAISH, I am uncertain whether the
marriage I note in my files for Margaret Ann (Kyger) Andrews and a David
Maish was actually this David Maish although previous researchers had listed
the same birth date. Margaret Kyger Andrews DID marry a David Maish on
March 21, 1878 in Clinton County, but apparently not this one since his
biography does not list a second marriage. (Are you confused yet?)
I do own the actual 1850 Indiana census so started looking for another David
Maish. Not. BUT, in looking for him, discovered other members of my family
NOT LISTED IN THE INDEX. I e-mailed a friend with this discovery only to
learn that it is a well known fact among experienced researchers that the
index is not to be trusted. One has to "roam the neighborhood".
I also discovered known family members married to people other than the ones
I show in my files.
Thank you again, Chris (I think), for opening up a very large can of worms.
A very grateful,
Maggie Kyger Miller
