I found this microfische (6018603) at my local FHC yesterday. Unfortunately
there is not one that covers the years 1844-1851 Book II. However it is
item # 3 on microfilm # 0873509 in case you care to order it from your
local FHC.
Anyhow......my reason for this message is to volunteer to do lookups on
this fische. It doesn't give a whole lot of info (just the first and last
names of both bridge and groom, the date they applied for license, and the
date they returned [I'm taking that to mean the date of marriage].
They will only be open for one more week and then they will close until
after the first of the year. It will be at least next Tuesday before I'll
be going back and I'd love to take a list of names with me to check out for
you all.
Apparently someone in the past had been doing research in Clinton County
because I've found a few references to microfische covering that area in
the card file that shows what they have on permanent loan. I'll be posting
those also at a later date and volunteering to do lookups on them also
after I have more time to see exactly what all they have on hand.
BTW, it just occured to me.....have those of you that make use of your
local FHCs asked what items they keep on permanent loan? The FHC here in
Rockledge maintains a color-coded, 3x5 card file which is filed in state
and country order and they also have an alpha file for surnames. White
cards are those films that are on temp loan (if you find something that
interests you, look quick as they'll be leaving soon <g>), blue cards for
films that are on permanent loan, yellow cards are microfische on permanent
loan, and pink cards for books that are on permanent loan. The FHC that I
used to go to in WA state had computerized their holdings and maintained
current hard copy lists that they kept in loose-leaf binders separated by
category. I guess that it's just up to the local group how they do this.
