!!Take another look at those CW pension files!!
While looking through the copies of my great grandfather's Civil War pension
application in the wee hours of last night, it suddenly ocurred to me that
the affidavits included could be valuable to researchers of other family
histories.
For instance, Matthew E. ORR first met my ggrandfather in 1853 in Clinton
Co., IN when they both 11 or 12 years old. Maybe that fact alone would be of
interest to someone reasearching that family, but perhaps also knowing that
as of April 11, 1901 he was living in Rocky Ford, Otera Co., CO. would be of
even more help (info obtained from affidavit as to origin of my
ggrandfather's disability).
Or maybe John ELDER's descendants have been told that their ancestor had
served in the Civil War, but did they know that he was in Co. H, 86th Reg't
of Indiana Volunteers and that he was living in Frankfort, Clinton Co., IN
in 1885?? (Info obtained from affidavit as to origin of my ggrandfather's
disability).
So, dig out those pension files again and look at them from a different
perspective and help your fellow researchers by posting the info that you
find there in a similar format as follows:
The following is a list of people's names that are showing on various
