Most of my SMALLs located in Tipton, Howard and Hamilton County, IN in the
1840-1850 time range from Johnson County, IN and Bath County, KY. They did
spill over into Clinton County, IN. I don't have a Mason T. in my
investigations for Clinton County, but if they got there after 1920, that is
not surprising. You can check my SMALL WEB page to help you sort out the
various SMALLs in that area, but probably won't find a connection.
Good luck on Detroit. They do very sloppy searches and really don't want to be
bothered with genealogy. My BERRY line from Tipton County and Huntington
County, IN ended there and even when we have strong date evidence in the 1940s
Detroit is unresponsive. My wife's family resided in Detroit in the early 1900s
and she gets the same type of results both in person and by mail. Thank you
INDIANA counties.

Joseph Small, b 178 maine, married Margaret Duncan, went to Wheeling
West,
VA, then to an area near Cincinnati, OH. They moved to Cuyahoga, OH and on
to Allen Co, IN by 1838. He died 1868.
His son Mason T. Small and wife Liza (Fuller) went to Vermilion Co, IL,
where they show in the 1910 census, in Danville.
They then moved to Clinton Co, IN. Was this their last stop?
Their son John Daniel Small, b 1886, lived in Detroit, MI. He died,
according to SSDI, Mar 1976, but where? While the last payment went to a
Detroit ZIP code, Michigan cannot come up with a death certificate.
The same goes for his brother, Otto Raymond Small, b 1883. He died Mar
1972, with a Detroit ZIP code.
