Hello and I do believe I might be subscribed again. Thanks, Connie.
Is anyone researching this George/Kernodle/Pettit family? If so, would love
to hear from you. As usual when you get one obit it leads to fifty
questions!
Matthew R. George died at age 68 June 1917. The obit states his survivors
are wife Malinda George and daughter Mrs. Pearl Caldwell.
Malinda George died May 21, 1926. She was born in Boone Co., IN February
11, 1847. Her obituary list survivors as: brother Henry Kernodle of Salem,
IN and three grandchildren: Sarah Pearcy and William Petitt of Frankfort
and Richard George of Kokomo, IN.
Malinda and Matthew are both buried in Bunnell Cemetery.
Now William Petitt, Jr., the grandson above, his obit states that he was
born in Hoopeston, Vermillion Co., IL to William and Emma George Petitt on
August 27, 1887.
The granddaughter, Sarah Pearcy, obits gives her date of birth July 8, 1898
to William and Pearle George Petitt and her survivors are her husband Albert
Pearcy, three daughters Mrs. Bettie Fisher and Mises Delores and Barbara
Pearcy, two sons Jack and James all of Frankfort, her father Wm. Petitt,
Sr., brother Wm. Petitt, Jr. of Frankfort and half brother Richard George of
Miami, Florida.
Is Pearle and Emma George the same person? Did Pearle have Richard George
prior to her marriage to Mr. Caldwell and Mr. Petitt?
In Mr. Wm. Pettit, Sr. obit states that he married Emma George in 1886, that
he was born in Montcello, IN June 4, 1854 and that he came to Frankfort 50
years ago. He died May 1, 1938.
If anyone can help to straighten out these problems would love to hear from
you.
Thank You. Mary K. George
