DENTON, Mary M. SPRAY
SUDDEN DEATH OF WELL KNOWN LADY
MRS. JOHN M. DENTON PASSED AWAY SUNDAY NIGHT
Suffered Attack of Heart Trouble and Expired Before Physician Could Reach Her Bedside
Mrs. John M. DENTON died suddenly of heart trouble Sunday night at 12 o'clock at the
family home on Burlington Avenue. Mrs. DENTON was apparently in the best of health
Christmas day until late in the afternoon when she suffered an attack of neuralgia.
Medicine relieved the attack and later she was able to be up and around the house. The
family retired early but about midnight Mr. DENTON was aroused from his slumbers by the
heavy breathing of his wife. She was gasping for breath. Mr. DENTON called his sons and
Dr. RUDDELL, the family physician, was summoned. However, Mrs. DENTON passed away a few
seconds later, Dr. RUDDELL finding life extinct when he reached the home. The maiden name
of the deceased was Mary SPRAY. She was born in Wayne County, this state, on January 16,
1850, and was consequently fifty nine years of age. Her marriage to John M. DENTON
occurred on November 13, 1884. Besides her husband she leaves two children, Claude and
Earl, both at home, and three step-ch!
ildren, Mrs. Gus Hoken (HOLCOMB) and Miss Prudence DENTON of Cadillac, Mich., and Samuel
H. DENTON of Clarendon, ARK. The funeral will be conducted from the residence Wednesday
forenoon at 10 o'clock. Q. A. KENNEDY will officiate and the internment will be at
Bunnell Cemetery.
