Subject: Jones/Hurless
Vikki;
Good to hear back from you and soon too.
The Sarah Hurless thing is a real mess. Sarah was the daughter of Daniel & Rachel
Shroyer. Born May 5, 1807 Fayette Co., Pa. Was much married. 1st. to a J. Turner then
John Hurless June 27, 1841, then third to an Isaac Jones Oct. 13, 1853. She married both
Hurless and Jones in Clinton Co., Ind. Has kids by both Hurless & Turner.
I cannot find her anywhere on the 1860 census. But in 1870 she is living in the house of
Abraham Swartz who is 40 she is 63. But she is listed as; Sarah Hurlis. So imagine that
they are not married. Ha. At any rate in 1866 the heirs of Daniel Shroyer get sued and in
that suit she is listed as Sarah Jones. So somewhere between 1866-1870 she goes back to
calling herself Sarah Hurless instead of Sarah Jones.
Now what do you suppose happens to old Isaac? I searched Clinton Co. Ind. Courthouse for
divorce but came up with zilch, no will for Isaac, estate settlement etc. Not only do I
wonder as to what happens to old Isaac but what about Sarah herself? After the 1870
census she drops off the face of the earth and hasn't been seen or heard from since.
Obviously my interest lies primarily with Sarah herself and have no Jones connections at
all. Sarah was a sister to my gr.gr.Grandfather Daniel. So as you can see this is all
about some of the twigs on the family tree, but the twigs are fun to fool around with from
time to time.
Hope this gives you an idea as to where I am at with all of this. Confusion, confusion.
If you have any brain storms on this one pass them along if you would. So, in short I am
searching for an Isaac Jones who marries a Sarah Hurless
then disappears. ?????????????? The Isaac you referred to could be the guy. But what
happens to him?
Keep in touch. Hope to hear again from you.
Larry
