I'm interested in knowing more about James Edward Dykes, in case he is the
James Dike buried in an unknown location at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Florida
Twp, Parke Co IN.
This man is thought to be a WW I veteran. Our cemetery association would
like to know more about him, so that we can place a flag on Memorial
Day. Perhaps he is buried by relatives. We have no date of death.
I found a WW I Draft Registration for James Edward Dykes, who lived at No
2, Colfax, Clinton Co. He was b Dec 9, 1878, and was 39 years old on
September 12, 1918. He was white, of medium hight and weight, had blue
eyes and black hair. His wife was listed as Cassie or Carrie T Dykes. He
registered in Montgomery Co.
I am personally interested in him, in case he happens to be buried at Mt
Olivet due to my grandfather's intervention. My grandfather Jesse Ray
McMullen had Tatum relatives at Colfax.
Unfortunately I can't find a marriage for James Dike or Dykes
and Cassie. I have a marriage of James Dykes and Stella Oliver on 23 Mar
1899 Montgomery C, and a marriage of James Dykes (older generation) and
Louisa S?? on 19 Jan 1869 Montgomery Co. This is from Ancestry's database
of IN marriages from 1845-1920.
We are also planning to get military markers for soldiers who have no
stones, and he is obviously one of them.
