The Clinton Co. Archive Project was great to have seen.
Do the numbers on the file boxes etc. refer to file boxes at the courthouse? Or have those
files been moved to the library in Frankfort and the numbers refer to a file box there?
If at the courthouse which office?
I inadvertently deleted that particulair e-mail and certainly wish to thank whoever shared
that. There are several entries there which I would like to see the originals of. Where
do I look to see the original document? Fortunately I did place the site in my
"favorites" file before deleting the whole thing.
Thanks for any info. Next time shall not be so quick to hit the delete button.

Larry,
The *original*, official court documents are housed at the Frankfort
Community Public Library in the Genealogy Department located in the
lower level. The numbers listed are library reference numbers. All of
the files are stored in a filing cabinet system with file #, box #, name
of folder. Since they are *original* documents many will show signs of
deterioration, yellowing, brittleness, fading, etc..
A person can not say too much about the Clinton Co. library. I was very
impressed when I visited. Grace was wonderful!
Hint: When I visited, rather than zerox copy all of the documents I was
interested in, I took pictures of each document with a digital camera.
The genealogy room is well lighted but the light is too diffused for a
good digital image. I used the built-in flash on the camera. Some of
the documents that were faded wouldn't zerox copy very well but happily
to say the digital images maintained the over-all integrity of the
document. When taking digital images of documents the document should
be flat [not curled]. The distance between the camera and the document
should be far enough away that the flash will diffuse over the entire
document otherwise there will be a "bright spot" if taken too closely.
Some of the documents are rather large in size compared to our now
popular 11" X 14" legal paper size. It took some ingenuity to capture
those sizes of documents with a camera!
Sincerely,
dPrater
