I have been researching a Harrison ancestor in Clinton Co, IN. Her name
was Lucinda, born in 1855 in KY, who married into the Elder family at
Clinton Co, in 1871. Their first son was born there in 1873 and was
named Noble Butler Elder. I have often wondered if the surnames "Noble"
and "Butler" may have been connected to the family. Their second son,
John William Henry Elder was also born there in 1875.
Prior to 1870 they were separated or divorced. Lucinda next surfaced
just after 1900 in Oakland, CA. The name, Leonora, seems to have been
connected to her - possibly a sister.
If anyone has anything on these families, I'd appreciate hearing from
you. Lucinda's trail - and her family ties have been extremely difficult
to establish. According to family, there were and are other Harrison
family members still living in the area. One son died young, and Noble
was raised by his father in Indiana (Peru, Miami Co.). Little else is
known about Lucinda's side of the family - other than a yet
unestablished tradition that she connects to the Presidents Harrison.
The great-aunt who told my husband there were still Harrison relatives
in East-Central Indiana has sinced passed away and, possibly, the link
to our Harrison roots, with her.
