Obituary of Margaret Clark, from the Frankfort Weekly Times, dated December 12, 1903.
Obituary of Mrs. Clark
(Contributed)
Margaret Bowen Clark was born in Owen township, Clinton county, Ind., June 6, 1843;
died at the home of her son, Truman Clark, in Rossville, Ind., aged 60 years, 6 months and
2 days. She was united in marriage to A.A. Clark, May 28, 1858. To this union were born
ten children, six of whom survive. Truman and Orion of Rossville, and Mathew of Kansas;
Mrs. Bertha Cox of Rossville, Mrs. Cora Calloway of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Ella Beisel,
wife of Rev. F.J. Beisel, of North Dakota. She was bereft of her companion June 14, 1897,
since which time she has made her home with her children.
Early in life she sought and found the Savior, uniting with the Rossville Baptist
church. She remained a faithful member till she was called to her reward. She was highly
esteemed by the church and community, being greatly devoted in all relations of life, as
wife, as mother, sister, friend, and neighbor. "Our loss is indeed her gain."
She is not lost, only gone before. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
We shall meet her in the morning, where we shall know as we are known.
In addition to her children, she leaves to mourn her departure twenty-seven
grandchildren and one great grandchild. (Her three grandchildren and their father, Melvin
Hendricks, who reside in Oklahoma, could not attend the funeral, also her son, Mathew, who
resides in Kansas, which was greatly regretted). She also leaves one brother, Alford
Bowen, and a host of sympathizing friends.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.P. Tedford at the Rossville Baptist
church. Interment was in the Rossville Cemetery.
