Hello all!
I have been thinking about adding a section on Clinton
County migrations to the Genweb site. What I would
like everyone to do is to send a message (to the list
preferably so everyone can see it) stating your family
name, where they lived before they came to Clinton
County and/or where they went when they left Clinton
County. I will put these up on the website so someone
looking for relatives that were in Clinton County and
then disappeared can look at the list on the website
and get an idea of some places they might look to find
their rogue families.
Example:
WILLIAMS, Charles and Jane
From: Warren County, Kentucky (1835)
To: Louisa County, Iowa (1865)
Of course if the family came from or went to more than
one place (say they lived in North Carolina prior to
Kentucky for example) you can put more than one
location for "From" or "To". If you know what year
they migrated you can put the date in parenthesis. Say
you don't know when they came to Clinton County but
you know they were in Kentucky in 1830 and in Clinton
County in 1840 you can just put (btw. 1830-1840) or
(aft. 1830) or (bef. 1840) because some range of
dates, however wide, is better than no date at all.
I think this could be a helpful resource for some and
I know other counties have done this with their
mailing lists, but I think adding it to the website
will be invaluable to all of us.
Thanks!
Lena
